Overview
Rupanyup is a small community country town with an attractive aspect. Like its neighbouring town Murtoa, Rupanyup is a wheat growing town, surrounded by neat paddocks that continue as far as the eye can see.
History
First surveyed in 1873, the settlement was established by British and German selectors.
Located on Dunmunkle Creek was originally known as Lallat but by 1876 had become known as Rupanyup, an aboriginal word meaning ‘branch hanging over water’.
