Speed

Overview

Speed is one of three towns located a few kilometres apart along the Sunraysia Highway as it heads towards Mildura. Once servicing a vibrant and populous agricultural community, population decline and improved transport has diminished the need for the range of services once provided, with a fuel outlet and general store and Post Office the only remaining businesses on the highway.

History

The town of Speed was settled in 1902 just after the Melbourne to Mildura railway line reached this point.
